Cycling tour (2004) photo album

In July of 2004, I was one of 4 expats that arranged a cycling tour of 1000 km around Taiwan as fundraiser for the Red Heart Foundation, who is a charity that support the families of convicted criminals in Taiwan serving prison sentences. The tour started in Taipei and we cycled along the West coast to the South and returned to Taipei through the mountainous east coast region. It took us 10 day. We cycled by day and had fundraising events in the evenings. The tour attracted a lot of media attention. I had a cold for a big part of the tour, but pushed forward and only missed one day of the tour. It was extremely hot and humid and the mountain sections particularly challenging. The participants of the tour were myself, Toby McGuire from the UK, who previously completed a 13000 km tour from London to Singapore, Ron an Australian, and Kenza from Japan. Accompanying us was a Taiwanese man and his whole family who has managed to cycle through 4 continents. After completion of the tour we held a press conference which was televised.
