About Learnthings Africa
|
Upon my return from Oman in 2009 I got involved with Learnthings Africa. I was contracted to install Learnthings education software content at rural schools across the Eastern Cape. I traveled more than 7000 km over a months period in the Transkei and Eastern Cape to install the content at the school's PC labs which were sponsored by MTN.
From 2010- 2011 I facilitated the PC literacy training of rural school teachers and children. Certain rural schools across South Africa were sponsored by MTN and received fully equipped PC labs, including desktop computers with pre-loaded educational software, PC projector and an interactive whiteboard. I was contracted to provide the training for teachers and children on how to use the hard and software. I traveled extensively throughout the rural areas of South Africa to facilitate these interventions. In 2012 I facilitated classroom management solutions for Microsoft, Mecer and Vodacom. Several schools throughout South Africa entered the Vodacom Millionaires competition. Competition winners received a fully equipped Mecer classroom management system with teacher PC and 30 mini laptops for learners. I had to train teachers on how to use this system and its functionalities. I usually conducted training over a 3 day period. During school hours I trained learners and after school the teachers. It enabled me to travel extensively throughout the rural areas, untouched by Western values and technology, and gave me as a photography addict the opportunity to take very unique photos. |
